All dogs available for adoption through AWL have been behaviour assessed before being matched with prospective owners to help ensure we find the right home for each animal. In addition they are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped including life time registration, on flea control and have been wormed. The adoption fee for dogs under 7 years is $350. If you are looking to adopt two dogs, the second dog is only $175.

For all dogs over 7 years the adoption fee is $175. Please note there is no additional discount for a second dog or puppy when adopting a senior pet.

Please call us on 8899 3333, or come by and visit us when you are ready to adopt an animal so we can discuss your options in adopting the right companion pet for you.

Making the right match in 5 easy steps:

1.  Getting started

  • Shelters are open 7 days a week from 10 am until 3.30 pm for adoptions
  • We recommend you bring the entire family, including any exisiting dogs in your care

2.  Talk to our expert staff

  • Our experienced shelter staff will guide you through the completion of our adoption questionnaire to gather key information about your lifestyle, as AWL aims to match each individual or family with the right pet

3.  Getting to know the right dog

  • Once your questionnaire has been completed our experienced shelter staff will discuss suitable puppies or dogs for your lifestyle
  • You will then get to meet each dog one on one in the company of a shelter staff member
  • If you already have another dog or dogs, we encourage you to bring these pets to meet a potential new pet, to make sure everyone gets along

4.   Take your time

  • Chosing a new companion should never be rushed, take your time to get to know each dog recommended by the shelter staff
  • If the first dog you meet is not suitable, that is okay; we usually have a large selection of breeds and personalities looking for loving homes

5.    The Adoption

  • Once you have made your choice, the staff will assist you through the adoption process, so you can take your new family member home

Remember, at AWL all adopted dogs come with a 21 day health guarantee, please call the Shelter or AWL Veterinary Clinic with any questions on 8899 3333.
