In 1977, a small group of people in the Illawarra area banded together to help animals in distress and thus laid the foundations for the Illawarra Branch of AWL NSW as it is today. Many years have passed, but our mission has remained the same: to achieve a reasonable quality of life for all animals by giving practical assistance to them and their owners when needed.
Our Branch receives thousands of requests each year to help solve many and varied animal problems, not only from the general public, but also from community groups, local Councils, hospitals, schools, commercial businesses, heavy industry, and the police. Through discussion, counselling, co-operation and financial assistance we work to achieve positive outcomes, with the animal’s best interests always being our foremost priority.
