Volunteers

Animal Welfare League NSW values the effort and dedication of our volunteers.

There are many ways people can help and we have listed some of these below.

Shelter Volunteers AWLNSW

We hold regular Information Sessions at our Head Office in North Ryde and our West Hoxton Shelter for people interested in becoming a volunteer.  Following the Information Session, volunteers are inducted at their Shelter of choice prior to commencing.

Information sessions are held regularly on evenings and during the day. For more information or to reserve a place at an information session, please call 02 8899 3333 or email volunteers@awlnsw.com.au

Event and Specialised Volunteers

There are other ways volunteers can help, apart from working in the shelters or branches, and we have lots of activities that don't involve working directly with the animals. If you are interested in helping with fundraising, events or utilising your vocation or expertise in areas such as administration, work on the grounds or other areas, please call 02 8899 3333 or email volunteers@awlnsw.com.au

Branch Volunteers

Our 14 Branches are operated by volunteers and undertake a number of activities within their regions, including fundraising, events, providing services for animals in their area such as subsidised desexing, emergency welfare assistance and foster caring. If you would like to volunteer with our Branches, please call us on 02 8899 3333 or email volunteers@awlnsw.com.au for the branch in your area.

Students

If you are a school or tertiary student and you would like to complete your practical time with us, please email volunteers@awlnsw.com.au or call us on 8899 3333 for more information. Students must have insurance from their school or place of study. Places are limited at the Shelters and Vet Clinic, so please contact us early to secure dates and avoid disappointment.

Volunteers under 16 years

If you are under 16 and would like to volunteer, you must be accompanied by a responsible person over 16, who is able to complete the sessions and volunteer with you. Please contact us for more information.

Foster Carers

Foster carers enable the young, elderly, the sick and those that simply cannot cope with shelter life with options. These pets often flourish in a home environment event if only temporary. Carers also provide much needed assistance when our shelters are at capacity.

For more information about how you can volunteer please call 8899 3333 or email volunteers@awlnsw.com.au
