A Little Bit About Butter

Butter is an extremely loving, special old girl that is looking for the perfect home. She is 12 (nearly 13!) years young, and while she sometimes acts like a pup, she has trouble with her hips and back legs. Her ideal day would be breakfast (she loves food!), and then spending the morning laying outside in the sunshine, or wherever she can get her joints warm. She also loves cuddling up on a lap or lounge, or her dedicated orthopaedic beds. In the afternoon, she loves spending time with her humans doing anything in the backyard, and will sometimes have a little play (tug-of-war or chases) but she tires very quickly. She also loves enrichment activities in the evenings, such as a snuffle mat or treats in a puzzle ball. She is so treat driven! After dinner, she enjoys more cuddles and will put herself to bed at around 8pm. She is completely house trained and will let you know with big sighs when she wants to go outside. While she loves a calm and comforting home, there are times where she can get a bit stressed. This includes seeing or hearing other dogs, particularly through fences or windows. Loud barking, whining and yelping at other dogs or sometimes people in the street is common, though we are working through this with treats and ensuring that exposure to this is limited. Butter prefers to not go on walks at all and stay at home for play instead. Butter would suit a home that has people around a lot of the time, but she doesn't mind spending time by herself in a backyard for short amounts of time. She also needs a home with no other pets. If you are interested in meeting her, please contact our shelter team on 8777 4445 or email kempscreek@awlnsw.com.au
