AWL NSW pets looking to find furever homes in pet adoption drive
On Sunday 6 October, Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL NSW) will be stationed at Bunnings stores to help some of their shelter pets find their furever homes as part of a nationwide pet adoption drive.
Between 11am-2pm, Bunnings shoppers will be able to meet some of the adorable, and adoption-ready pets at AWL NSW as well as chat to the staff and volunteers about the current AWL NSW activities and upcoming community programs. AWL NSW will be at the McGraths Hill, Castle Hill, West Hoxton, South Nowra, and Bathurst Bunnings stores on the day.
The adoption drive comes on the back end of Dulux’s famous Jelly Bean initiative, which in 2019, is raising much-needed funds to support the fit-out of Second Chance Animal Rescue’s (SCAR) new Community Animal Hospital in Melbourne’s north. To help spread the message far and wide, SCAR founder Marisa reached out to the Animal Welfare League NSW to help support the cause and give the organisation a chance to make a difference in their own local areas. Participating in this initiative helps expose AWL NSW pets to other communities and more opportunity to meet potential adopters and find loving homes.
It’s also a great opportunity to remind people about the benefits of ‘adopting a pet in need’ and encourage locals to head into Bunnings and support fellow rescue group SCAR and the Dulux Jelly Beans Initiative, which is taking animal care and pet adoption to a national level. As part of the fundraising campaign, when customers buy 8L of Dulux paint at Bunnings from 20 September to 31 October they will receive a Jelly Bean tin, inclusive of one-of-five miniature collectible Dulux dogs hidden inside. $1.00 from every Jelly Beans tin will be donated to support Dulux’s contribution to the new animal hospital.
