Providing help and support to those who need it most

Animal Welfare League NSW, with support from Bayer and Hawkesbury Hay Runners, will be visiting the town of Moree, NSW between 8-10 March 2019 to provide much-needed support to the local animals in the community.

The town of Moree is located 625 kilometres north of Sydney and has a town population of approximately 14,000 locals, some of which own rural properties severely affected by drought. The town of Moree has also seen many companion animals in crisis, with the Animal Welfare League NSW Moree Volunteer Branch rehoming an astonishing 311 dogs and puppies, and 51 cats and kittens in the last financial year alone.

To help those who have been doing it tough, AWL NSW will be providing drought relief to local farmers through handouts of hay and lucerne to support remaining livestock, which will be delivered by two b-doubles provided by Hawkesbury Hay Runners.

In addition to this, AWL NSW will be supplying the Moree Plains Shire Council with cat condos which will be fitted to their pound facility to assist with disease control and separation of the cats in care which are currently housed in one enclosure.

For the Moree locals who hold a pensioners card, AWL NSW will be providing FREE vaccinations to non-vaccinated cats and dogs on Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of March. AWL NSW thanks the Moree Veterinary Hospital for allowing us to use their facility during this time.

To help reduce the amount of unplanned litters and homeless pets in the area, AWL NSW veterinarians will also be providing FREE desexing to vaccinated cats and dogs owned by locals who hold a pensioners card.

FREE flea and worming treatment for cats and dogs will also be supplied to the Moree community, thanks to Bayer.

AWL NSW would not be able to run these important community programs without the ongoing support of kind and generous donors. If you can, please consider supporting this cause, any donation no matter how small is appreciated. Donations can be made online, by calling AWL NSW on 02 8777 4461 or via PayPal.
