Discount Desexing – Promoting responsible pet ownership through our branch network

AWL NSW Branch Memberships

Memberships can be affiliated with one of our volunteer-run branches across NSW. By selecting a branch on your application, your membership fees directly support animal welfare initiatives in your local community.

As a branch member, you may also receive local updates, AGM and event invitations, and opportunities to get involved with your chosen branch.

If you are not part of a local branch, you can still join as a non-branch affiliated member, supporting AWL NSW’s work across the state.

Membership Options

Standard Membership: $40 per year
Junior Members (under 16): $20 per year
Concession Membership: $20 per year
Lifetime Membership: $600 one-time fee

As a valued member, you’ll receive updates on the impact of your support and be part of a network of animal lovers committed to change. All members (with the exception of junior members) have voting rights at our Annual General Meeting (AGM), helping to shape the future of AWL NSW.

Please note: All membership applications are subject to Board approval. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation letter via email.

Membership FAQs 

All membership applications undergo an approval screening by our Inspectorate and Board of Directors, which occurs every 3-4 weeks. Once approved, you’ll receive confirmation via email.

Your membership fee will be processed at the time of application. If your application is unsuccessful, you will receive a full refund.

AWL NSW memberships run on an annual basis from July 1 to June 30 each year. Regardless of when you join, your membership will be due for renewal on June 30.

Membership fees are not tax-deductible. However, if you choose to make an additional donation during your application, you will receive a tax receipt for the donated amount.

Yes! Gifting a membership is a wonderful way to support animal welfare while sharing your passion with friends or family. Simply complete the membership form with their details.

Memberships are renewed annually. You’ll receive a reminder before June 30 with instructions on how to renew online.

Membership fees are non-refundable, but you can choose not to renew for the next financial year.

If you select a local branch on your application, your membership fees will go directly toward supporting your chosen volunteer-run AWL NSW branch and its local animal welfare initiatives. You may also receive branch-specific updates and event invitations. If you don’t select a branch, your membership will contribute to AWL NSW’s state-wide work.

Yes! All AWL NSW members (with the exception of junior members) can vote at our AGM, helping to shape the future of our organisation.

Animal Welfare League NSW (ACN 000 533 086) (AWL NSW) gives notice to its members under section 110K of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) (Corporations Act) of their right to:

  • elect to receive the types of documents specified below in physical or electronic form; and
  • make requests to receive specific documents in physical or electronic form.

The types of documents to which an election applies include:

  • documents relating to a meeting of members of AWL NSW – such as Notices of Meeting and proxy/postal voting forms;
  • notice of members’ rights under section 110K of the Corporations Act (such as this notice); and
  • any other documents which may be prescribed by the Corporations Regulations (at the date of this notice there are no prescribed documents).

A member may make an election in relation to all, or a specified category, of the above documents.

AWL NSW encourages members to receive all these categories of documents electronically where possible.

A member is also entitled to request AWL NSW to send a particular document falling within any of the above categories to them in physical form or in electronic form.

To be eligible for a concession membership ($20 per year), you must provide proof of concession status, such as a pension card or senior card.

Junior Membership is for individuals under 16 years of age. Junior members cannot vote at the AGM.
