AWL NSW is proud to partner with Buddy Pet Insurance to support the delivery of our Animal Care Truck across metro communities, building on the foundational support of the NSW Government which has enabled the service to reach regional communities across the state.
Through this new partnership, the Animal Care Truck will provide health checks, microchipping and vaccinations to pets in metro areas including Western Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle suburbs over the next 12 months.
“The Animal Care Truck is about making sure no pet goes without essential care simply because of where their owner lives or their financial circumstances,” said AWL NSW CEO Stephen Albin.
“With the NSW Government enabling our reach regional communities across the state, and partners like Buddy Pet Insurance helping us strengthen delivery in metro communities, we’re able to support more animals and the people who care for them.”
This service is targeted toward pensioners and people experiencing financial hardship, helping make essential pet care more accessible at a time when cost-of-living pressures continue to affect so many households.
The first Buddy Pet Insurance supported visit took place in Penrith on Wednesday 18 March, where the team saw 52 pets (25 dogs and 27 cats), implanted 18 microchips and administered 45 vaccinations. It was a wonderful first step in what promises to be a meaningful partnership focused on keeping pets healthy and safe.
Animal Care Truck Coordinator Derek said the response from the Penrith community was a clear reminder of how needed this support is.
“The response from the Penrith community was really positive, and everyone was just so grateful,” he said. “It showed how much these kinds of services are needed.”
He said some of the most powerful moments came through conversations with pet owners who had been worried about their animals but had delayed seeking help due to cost or uncertainty.
“People love their animals so much, and you can see how important they are to them,” Derek said. “Being able to check them over and give advice and education on the spot meant a lot.”
Support from Buddy Pet Insurance enabled AWL NSW to offer the Penrith health check day free of charge, removing a key barrier for local pet owners doing their best to care for their animals.
“Buddy Pet Insurance’s backing made a huge difference,” Derek said. “It meant we could offer everything for free and help more people in the community.
Partnerships like this are critical because they help us reach people who might otherwise go without care for their pets.”
AWL NSW looks forward to expanding this service across metro communities in the months ahead.
We are grateful to Buddy Pet Insurance for their support, and to the NSW Government for enabling the broader statewide reach of the Animal Care Truck.
