Mumma's journey hasn't been an easy one. This beautiful Shar Pei arrived at our shelter scared and heavily pregnant, giving birth to her puppies on her very first night with us. Since then, she has shown incredible strength and heart-blossoming into a loyal, affectionate girl who's finally learning to trust and enjoy life.
With the people she knows and loves, Mumma absolutely thrives. She adores affection-leaning in for pats, lingering for head rubs, and happily staying close. She's getting better at meeting new people too, taking treats gently and even offering a sit to say hello. She can still be unsure of men, but slow and steady wins the race with this girl.
Mumma must be the only pet in her home, as she is not comfortable living with other dogs. She's made some progress around them, but she is happiest and most relaxed when she has her space to herself.
As a Shar Pei, Mumma requires some daily care to keep her healthy and comfortable. Her new family will need to be committed to daily cleaning of her ears, eyes, and skin folds to prevent infection-a routine she's become familiar with and handles well when done gently and consistently.
She is best suited to a quiet, adult home with experienced dog owners, and would do well with pet-savvy teenagers aged 16+ who understand how to give her space when she needs it. Her perfect match will be someone calm and confident, ready to continue building her trust at her pace.
