Billabong is a 1 year and 7-month-old Staffy cross with a playful spirit, a heart full of love, and a big future ahead in the right home. At heart, he's a sweet, affectionate boy who thrives on connection. He loves snuggling up with his humans, curling up next to his dog friend, and showing off his goofy, happy personality once he feels safe. He has the classic "velcro dog" charm, following his people around the house and soaking up attention whenever it's offered.
In foster care, Billabong has made great progress. He sleeps through the night, is learning basic cues, takes treats gently, and has shown excellent dog social skills, he loves to play and read other dogs well, and he often cuddles up with his foster sibling for naps. His ideal home will include another friendly, confident dog, as he draws comfort and confidence from canine companionship.
Billabong is a smart, eager-to-please dog who shines in a calm and predictable environment. But he does have some challenges, particularly with new or overwhelming settings.He's currently on a tailored plan to help support his anxiety and arousal levels, and he'll need a home that can continue this support.Outside the home, things like busy streets or unfamiliar people can still be stressful for him, and he needs slow, positive exposure and patient guidance as he continues to build confidence.
Because of this, Billabong is only available as a foster-to-adopt placement. This gives his future family time to get to know him, continue working with professionals on his progress, and ensure the match is right for both sides. He's not suited to being an only dog or living in a high-traffic environment, he needs a quiet, secure home with experienced carers who can provide structure, patience, and lots of love.
